From the RPG Post: Enter the Viking

Hladgunnr Yggdrasil, Earth's Last True Viking was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Standing at nearly 7' tall with short, dark hair (and an even shorter supply of cash), the one-eyed, 27-year old Hlad had taken up his Viking heritage and had been conducting small raids up and down the western European coast line. Nothing big you understand. Just rob a church here, a couple muggings there, a little arson in that town...you get the idea. However, this latest raid (known to police as a "bank robbery") had gone suprisingly wrong when a short, oriental man had ducked under Hlad's legs and managed to get outside the bank and got the cop's attention.

Now Hlad was running for his life. The police were apparently a little annoyed with him. "Stupid Irish and their damn religious fevor. Honestly, you rob one nunnery and they think you're the devil or somethin'" Hlad thought to himself as he ducked around a corner. Bullets flew threw the air, striking the buildings and pelting Hlad with stone shrapnel. "This SO isn't going to work. I've gotta find somewhere to hide."

Frantically, Hlad looked around and spied an abandoned warehouse. Reaching into his cloak, he pulled out a tiny machine with tiny lens in the top. He quickly tossed the machine down an alley way and headed for the warehouse ducking out of the cops sight. As the cops came around the corner, they saw Hlad running down the alley and continued their pursuit.

Hlad watched them go and thanked the gods that they had fallen for the hologram. Too bad its battery only lasted 5 minutes. They'd be back soon, and he had to think of some other means of hiding himself...fast.

He glanced around the warehouse, looking for anything that he might be able to use to help him out, and was suprised to find himself in the same room as a Gundam. Not to be one to look suspiciously at a gift from the gods, Hladgunnr muttered a thankful prayer to Thor and launched himself into the cockpit.

"Auto self-destruction sequence, initiated. You have 2 minutes to verify your identity"

"@#%$!!! I SO DON'T NEED THIS RIGHT NOW!!" Hlad screams at the Gundam trying to find out what exactly he did to set the self-destruction. He again reachs into his cloak and pulls out a sort of jack, and finds a data-port entry. Jacking into the machine, his blind eye opens and Hlad's hands begin to move through the air. If you looked closely at Hladgrunner's right eye (and by closely, we mean disected it), you would notice that Hlad's right eye isn't actually a blind eye, but rather a complex computer display hardwired into his skull. Hlad's hands move rapidly as he digests the information about the self-destruct mechanism.

"Someone was sure parinoid. This seat is pressure sensitive to the owners exact weight and if I were to stand up, the self-destruct would automatically go off. Fun stuff." Hlad thinks to himself as he rapidly trys to find a way to turn off the death trap. With about a minute to spare, Hlad finds the backdoor into the system and excutes a single command.

"Identity confirmed. Self-destruct sequence deactivated. Welcome to the Gundam Deathsythe. Have a nice day!"

Hladgunnr breaths a sigh of relief and unpluggs himself from the data-port. His left eye closes again and he now takes a look at the semi-familiar control console. "Don't worry Hlad, its just like riding a bike. You never really forget how to pilot one of these things. This one makes it stand up."

The Deathscythe begins to rise from the ground, and goes straight through the roof of the warehouse. "Oops! Low clearance." Hlad grimaces slightly as he remebers how everything is supposed to work. "And this moves it forward..." Lo and behold, the Deathscythe does move forward. Enboldend by his sucess, Hlad begins to get more comfortable in the cockpit and soon has the Gundam flying away from the city and all those nasty cops.

"YES!! Oh, this is going to be so much FUN!" Hlad whoops in pure joy. He bangs his hand down on the arm of the Deathscythe and a secret compartment opens up. Hlad looks inside it and turns away in disgust. "Jack Daniels and cigars? UGH! Memo to self: replace secret stash with some pipe tobacco and ale as soon as possible."

Hladgunnr looks out the upon the horizon and grins. "Now then, lets see what this baby can do..."
